American Society for Civil Engineers Hawaii’s Green Project of the Year

Oceanit was awarded the American Society for Civil Engineers Hawaii 2013 Green Project of the Year for its Kawainui Restoration Project work in Windward Oahu.

Through a partnership with the Army Corps of Engineers and the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife, Oceanit planned, designed and prepared contract documents to rebuild a natural bird sanctuary at Kawainui Marsh in Kailua, Hawaii, using innovative engineering design technologies.

The Kawainui Marsh Project transformed the deteriorating, nonfunctional portion of a wetland into a bird sanctuary within an engineered flood-control system.
