Oceanit is dedicated to solving the unique and diverse engineering challenges facing our evolving ecosystems. Our mission is to implement innovative and sustainable engineering solutions that will survive & function; resisting chronic stress and recovering from extreme events.

The Resilient and Sustainable Engineering (RiSE) team is made up of licensed Professional Engineers (PEs), scientists, and planners working together to build a positive future for Hawaii in the face of many ecological and economic challenges of climate change. The RiSE team includes Certified Construction Managers, Project Management Professionals, and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professionals in Building Design+Construction.

Oceanit was founded in 1985 by Patrick K. Sullivan, PE Ph.D. as an ocean engineering firm, solving complex oceanic and coastal engineering problems that were specific and unique to Hawaii. We are building a better future for our islands and beyond through innovative, responsible, and impactful engineering solutions.

WHAT WE DO

In 35 years since Oceanit was founded, our engineering consulting teams has expanded beyond ocean engineering to address a broad range of environmental engineering issues around the Pacific region.

RiSE projects focus on areas such as coastal erosion & beach/reef depletion, harbor & utility infrastructure, artificial reefs, water resources & flood modeling, environmental monitoring & pollution control, dam infrastructure, habitat restoration, endangered species protection & population stabilization, and much more.

The team grew to include many licensed PEs, with certifications/accreditations in CCM, PMP, LEED AP, and BD+C. Our extensive expertise in ocean engineering was expanded upon as Oceanit built our disruptive innovation methodology, allowing us to solve environmental problems with far more than traditional civil engineering techniques.
