February 7, 2019 - On January 30th, Mr. Se-yong Jung of SaeOn, the inventor of the Altino coding car, arrived in Honolulu to spend a week with Oceanit and to meet our coding education partners. Visiting along with Mr. Seyong Jung were five top coding students from Korea, who won the 2018 International Altino Competition.
In their week on Oahu, Oceanit and our Korean guests held multiple Altino scratch coding workshops to help spread computer science to educators and leaders in our community.
January 31, 2019 - The 2019 NACE UAE Corrosion Conference was held from January 28-31 at the Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi. The key topic was corrosion prevention and control as a critical issue for the future of development and industry in the Middle East and around the world. The event was attended by experts and leading industry professionals from around the world, including Oceanit's Dr. Vinod Veedu who gave a presentation on 'Corrosion Resistant, Anti-Fouling Coating for Improved Heat Exchanger Efficiency.'
January 4, 2019 - Until the world is able to rely fully on renewable energies, fossil fuel use (particularly natural gas) will continue to be an important focus of innovation. In particular, Oceanit has been seeing how Machine Learning can augment capabilities to make the process cleaner, less hazardous, and deliver better outcomes.
December 20, 2018 - Global emissions alarms are sounding as we close out 2018. In a new report by the UN Global Carbon Project, worldwide carbon emissions, primarily driven by fossil fuels, will reach an all-time high of 31.7 gigatons in 2018. That is an increase of 2.7% from last year and sharply up from 2017 small increase and a plateau with 0% growth from 2014-2016.
December 17, 2018 - Oceanit has been privileged to live and work in the Hawaiian community for over 34 years. While our growth into diverse industries and markets has been a source of learning and development, our passion over the last year has been the direct support of education and imagination here in Hawaii.
