U.S. EPA Awards Oceanit to Develop Corrosion Resistant Treatment

September 21, 2017 - We are pleased to announce that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded Oceanit $100,000 to develop a nontoxic coating for use in water pipeline repair. The innovation will advance from the business’ EverPel coating, a nanotechnology-based treatment that prevents and protects existing pipelines from corrosion.

September 20, 2017 - Oceanit is using the robotic teaching platform, Altino, to help inmates from the Halawa Correctional Facility learn how to code. Inmates now have resources to a multitude of languages such as Android, Arduino, and C++. By using a robotic car, they can learn through exercises that are interactive, motivating, and fun.

September 14, 2017 - Oceanit spinout, Ibis Networks, received a new investing partnership with Hawaii-based Reef Capital Ventures. Ibis Networks CEO, Michael Pfeffer, said the investment will help the company expand its capacity to commercialize its technology. "This is an essential piece to our growth strategy that will allow Ibis to continue adding value and playing an increasingly pivotal role in the energy management and automation industry," he said in a statement.

Dr. Mike Foley Discusses Coastal Concerns on ThinkTech Hawaii

August 18, 2017 - Oceanit's coastal engineer, Dr. Mike Foley, was on ThinkTech Hawaii to discuss the complexities of measuring coastlines, and the cutting edge technologies used to address growing environmental issues.  "Every beach has a story to tell," says Dr. Foley, "and we're just starting to scratch the surface in really writing the story, really reading the story. [The coastline] is the interface between the ocean and the land. It's where a balance, an equilibrium happens every day."

IN THE NEWS | Students Take on Problem Solving Challenges at Competitive Oceanit Internship

August 10, 2017 - Oceanit's summer interns were featured on Hawaii News Now, just as the program wrapped up for another successful year. Intern projects included collaboration with scientists and engineers on current contracts, as well as an internal opportunity to present an innovative solution to solve any problem they are interested in. This Intern Innovation Summit is presented to a board of judges using the resources and equipment provided from the company.
