What kinds of science and technology go into building artificial intelligence (AI) and will strong AI ever outperform human intelligence? These questions and more were addressed by Chris Sullivan, strategic director, and Jeffrey Watumull, senior scientist, from Oceanit as they visited the Hawaii Public Radio talk show, Bytemarks Café, on Wednesday, August 26. The episode, titled “Strong AI,” explored the development of AI to the point where the machine’s intellectual capability is functionally equal to humans.

Hosted by Burt Lum and Ryan Ozawa, Bytemarks Café touches upon the latest happenings in the technology and science world with a distinctively Hawaii-centric perspective. Airing on KIPO – 89.3 FM, the radio show showcases locally-based projects in web development, clean energy, environment, internet applications, open knowledge, and entrepreneurial and startup activities to build a broader awareness of these fields in Hawaii.
