Purpose/Role:  Oceanit is seeking a Technology Commercialization Leader for a small team within Oceanit that is tasked with identifying promising technologies developed at Oceanit, and moving them from the lab to market. These include products and services that serve a wide range of industries, including the US Government.

 

The Value You Deliver:

 

  • Partner with the Director of Technology Commercialization and key Oceanit leaders to drive key technology commercialization priorities at Oceanit.
  • Work with the Director of Technology Commercialization in identifying and evaluating promising technologies being developed at Oceanit.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers at Oceanit to understand the new technology being developed, the potential commercial opportunities, and encourage technical progress towards relevant opportunities.
  • Develop new business plans, marketing collateral, and go-to-market strategies for identified technologies.
  • Develop physical and digital prototypes to be tested with customers. 
  • Identify and source customers to test technology with. 
  • User test with customers and communicate feedback to the technical team. 
  • Identify and source new commercial co-development partners who might be interested in licensing specific Oceanit technologies.

    Competencies:

    ·         Ability to work in a fast paced “startup environment” with limited resources

    ·         Self-starter and ability to work with little guidance; takes ownership of work

    ·         Strong communication and presentation skills to a wide range of audiences (users, customers, business leaders, government, etc.) 

    ·         Strong PowerPoint and story building skills

    ·         Comfortable with ambiguity, able to take initiative when path is not clear and work on multiple workstreams simultaneously

    ·         Extremely organized, natural affinity towards process and getting things done

    ·         Works quickly and thrives in a fast-paced environment, anticipates what is needed next

    ·         Excellent analytical capabilities, bringing rigor to problem solving

    ·         Ability to work cross functionally in a positive and team-oriented way whether as a project lead or as a contributor

     

    Qualifications:

    ·         2-3 years of work experience 

    ·         Startup, consulting, and/or strategy/business development experience

    ·         Experience with shepherding consumer products from concept to launch / commercialization

    ·         Experience raising money, selling a product, or persuading someone to pay for something 

    ·         Willingness to travel up to 25% of time (domestically and internationally)
