PURPOSE/ROLE: Oceanit is seeking a Mechanical/Field Engineer to design, develop and test products and systems to support projects, new business and technology pursuits.
THE VALUE YOU DELIVER:
• Works with technical teams to design and develop mechanical systems to ensure delivery of solutions with specific characteristics that meet or exceed client specifications, on-time and on-budget. • Works with the technical team to implement methods for maintenance and repair of components and systems, and develops test instrumentation and test procedures. Tests properties of devices, equipment, tools, structures and materials.• Assists in the installation process of new and advanced technologies in accordance with the requirements specified by the research team and understanding client requirements.• Conducts field work in accordance with project goals; may include field operations in/on the ocean• Diagnoses mechanical problems and resourcefully fixes the problems onsite.• Prepares designs, plans, specifications, estimates, and reports. • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making decisions• Assists with collection and analysis of field data from, including from land and hydrographic surveys and water quality monitoring.• Prepares documents including project specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and other required project related work for obtaining regulatory approvals.• Conducts analyses of technical products and systems and prepares plans for implementation.• Participates in client or customer coordination and planning meetings and includes liaison with regulatory agencies.• Interfaces with customers, researches technical literature, and supports proposal development.• Supports theoretical and experimental research and development
THE EXPERTISE WE’RE LOOKING FOR: • BS in mechanical engineering or related field. • 3 years of working experience in engineering required. • Proficiency with office computer applications (AutoCAD, Matlab, SolidWorks, Civil 3D, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.), and familiarity with GIS. • Proficiency in MS Office, basic knowledge in electronics and mechanical systems• Required Skills: Ability to handle multiple products simultaneously; superior communication and problem-solving skills; team player; innovative; self-motivated; resourceful, able to work independently with little supervision; able to work in adverse settings and climatic conditions; sound ability to diagnose problems with existing equipment and fixing them.
