The Hawaii Venture Capital Association (HVCA) honored Michael Pfeffer as the Clean Tech/Ag Entrepreneur of the Year at their 26 February gala at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. Attendees included representatives from Hawaii’s startup community, from entrepreneurs to venture capitalists.

HVCA President Meli James recognized Michael Pfeffer for his entrepreneurship at Ibis Networks (rebranded in 2020 to WattIQ), a spin-out of Oceanit, which originally seeded the patented Ibis technology through Oceanit’s internal “Innovation Fund.” Michael has over 10 years of experience in venture and private equity investing and entrepreneurship and is the co-founder and CEO of Ibis Networks, which produces award-winning products that aid organizations in energy use management. Originally developed for applications with the U.S. Military, Ibis Networks’ technology creates a secure, reliable, mobile, scalable, and centrally managed means to dramatically reduce energy consumption and extend the life of electronic machinery with low up-front investment.

“Michael has done an excellent job bringing Ibis Networks technology to market and clearly deserves this recognition,” said Dr. Patrick K. Sullivan, CEO and founder of Oceanit and an Ibis Networks board member.
