August 9, 2018 - The PRiMO (Pacific Risk Management Ohana) Conference was held from August 6-9 at the Honolulu Convention Center. PRiMO’s theme for 2018 was “Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction.” Oceanit was represented by innovators Dr. Michael Foley and David Takeyama who presented two computer vision technologies in development here at Oceanit in Honolulu.
August 1, 2018 - It’s all about education and innovation. The last of Oceanit’s 2018 Altino summer workshops wrapped on July 28th on Maui, concluding a six-cohort tour of our state. The Altino Coding workshops have now reached well over 200 teachers from across the state, to introduce them to coding for the first time. The teachers became students as they learned to code and program the Altino autonomous car platform.
July 31, 2018 - How will innovation increasingly impact Hawai’i and our economic future? Jay Andrews, Director of Marketing for Oceanit, presented on the subject ‘AI, Robots, and Automation’ at the 5th Annual Leadership Conference hosted by Hawaii Business Magazine on July 26th at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The goal was to inform attendees on technological trends that will and are shaping the future. Oceanit believes that to prepare our leaders of tomorrow we must clarify misconceptions about both the practicality and potential of AI technology and the possible consequences.
July 5, 2018 - It’s rather unlikely that Earthlings would be able to simply chat with extra-terrestrials if we were to make contact, right? Turns out, it’s possible that our languages wouldn’t be so far apart according to hypotheses based on ‘Universal Grammar.’
