Oceanit is dedicated to solving the unique and diverse engineering challenges facing our evolving ecosystems. Our mission is to implement innovative and sustainable engineering solutions that will survive & function; resisting chronic stress and recovering from extreme events.

The Resilient and Sustainable Engineering (RiSE) team is made up of engineers, scientists, and planners working together to build a positive future for Hawaii in the face of many ecological and economic challenges of climate change. We are building a better future for our islands and beyond through innovative, responsible, and impactful engineering solutions. Oceanit was founded in 1985 by Patrick K. Sullivan as an ocean engineering firm, solving complex oceanic and coastal engineering problems that were specific and unique to Hawaii.

In 35 years since Oceanit was founded, the team has expanded to address environmental engineering issues around the Pacific region.

RiSE projects focus on areas such as coastal erosion & beach/reef depletion, harbor & utility infrastructure, artificial reefs, water resources & flood modeling, environmental monitoring & pollution control, dam infrastructure, habitat restoration, endangered species protection & population stabilization, and much more.

Our extensive expertise in ocean engineering was expanded upon as Oceanit built our disruptive innovation methodology, allowing us to solve environmental problems with far more than traditional civil engineering techniques.
